When will we see a change?
Mary Lambert.....She started out as outspoken barista in Seattle. Not only did she have problems with her weight but her sexuality, religion, and abuse. As a release of her emotions she started performing and writing spoken word poetry, and now she is even how we shouldn’t be held in bondage by our reflection in the mirror, and that we shouldn’t be looking to the media for an image of perfection. Age six mop headed ambitious girl, ready to start school for the next year. For many years I had gotten hand me downs from my older sisters and this year was no exception. I was never one to complain about it but this year it seemed my body was growing completely out of “proportion”. The shirts were now showing my belly because they weren’t long enough but the bigger hand me downs would fall off my shoulders so I had continued to wear the shorter ones. (continue reading)
Every one knows that when you are selling something you want to make it look as great as possible. But why do you have to use fake advertising to do it or why not just show the product itself. Of course not all companies do this but Victoria's Secret is one of them that do. They sell there products through there models, which is something very dangerous to do. These women are not the average size a full grown women is. We need to be taking more steps to figure out new ways of advertising that don't force people into bad eating habits, or depression. Dove has started a lovely campaign for beauty. (continue reading)
